Favorite iPad Apps to Date

I’ve only had my iPad for a short period of time (Christmas present), so I am by no means a pro when it comes to knowing what are the best apps out there. And although I am moderately geeky, I am in no way, a technical guru. I’m sure there are many of you out there who have your own favorite apps that you just can’t live without. Please feel free to share them with me so I can check them out too.

I currently have three favorite apps. They are Allrecipes.com, Overdrive and Pulse News. The first is Allrecipes.com and as the name would imply, it’s an app for obtaining recipes. There is a free or pro version. I have the pro version which allows me to save my favorite recipes to my recipe box and catalog them by the type of dish (i.e. dessert, appetizer, soup, etc.) they are. I have many recipes saved and have already tried making several. Homemade biscuits, Irish soda bread, homemade pancakes and baked potato soup, all of which tasted exceptionally good. I have to say, there isn’t anything that I have searched for thus far that this app hasn’t had a recipe for. I look forward to trying out many of the recipes I’ve saved and will let you know how they go.

The second app is the Overdrive app. This is the perfect app for those of you that love to read and have a library card. With this app I can log in to the local library consortium and check out digital books. The lending period is either 7 or 14 days and it allows you to check out up to 10 books at a time. Once you have downloaded the book and begin reading it saves your place when you turn off the device or close the app which means never worrying about losing your place again when the bookmark falls out.

My third favorite app of the moment is Pulse News. This is also a free app that allows you to keep up to date on all the current events. You can add different news outlets or magazines to your list of favorites and it gives a listing of all the current articles. Once you select one you would like to know more about, you can select it and it will give you a brief overview of the article and a link to the full version. The app also gives you the option of setting up separate pages that would allow you to break them out by categories (i.e. politics, food, travel, etc.).

Granted, the above is my simplified version of what the apps do and I hope that you check them out for yourself if they sound like they would interest you. A few other apps that I am digging on are TradeNations (please add me as a neighbor: Irelandfaerie), Catalogs, iMessage, IMDB, HBO to go, Max to go and of course WordPress.

I hope that if you are reading this, that you will share what your favorite apps are with me. There are so many to choose from and I know I have only seen a small portion of them. I seriously ❤ my iPad.
